Senior Interior Designer

At John Jacob Interiors, we offer a holistic approach to design from architectural detailing to furnishing and we’re looking for a Junior Interior Designer with a passion for creating timeless, elegant spaces to join our award-winning team.

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • draw the full set of working drawings in AutoCAD, and create all the necessary schedules.

  • Source & select finishes, sanitaryware, ironmongery, etc. as well as decorative items

  • regular communication/meetings with the Project Manager, QS, builder, suppliers and various subcontractors

  • attend all site meetings, site inspections, joinery/furniture factory meetings, etc

  • constantly monitor the project BOQ

  • manage joinery/furniture production

  • be the JJI point of contact for the client

 

What we’re looking for:

 

  • Min 5 years experience

  • Must reside in Cape Town, South Africa

  • Bachelor’s degree or other tertiary qualification in Interior Design, Architecture or related discipline

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD & SketchUp is a must

  • Highly organised with a keen eye for detail and numerically oriented (great with Microsoft Excel)

  • Must have reliable car to go to site meetings etc

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to travel locally and internationally for projects

  • Demonstrate commitment to excellence in design & design execution

  • Demonstrate advanced understanding of the decorating process

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team oriented, collaborative environment

  • Flexibility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of development

  • Required to provide contactable references
